Rob Abbott is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at UNC Charlotte, under the guidance of Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic. He received his B.S degree in Computing & Information Systems from the University of South Alabama in 1996 and his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2014. His research interests include artificial cognition and the automated description of complex environments. His specific area of interest is using AI techniques to learn and model the dynamics of complex systems. He has over 27 years of experience working in the industry and has one awarded U.S. patent for his work in computer security. He is the Chief Data Scientist for Aquanomix, a company building a novel solution to save over a billion gallons of water a year and to reduce the health risks associated with the operation of large cooling tower systems.
