Rob Abbott is a researcher at the Complex Systems Institute and occasionally an adjunct faculty in the School of Data Science at UNC Charlotte. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence from UNC Charlotte in 2021. He received his B.S degree in Computing & Information Systems from the University of South Alabama in 1996 and his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2014. His research interests include artificial cognition and the automated description of complex environments. His specific area of interest is using AI techniques to learn and model the dynamics of complex systems. He has over 35 years of experience working in industry and has four awarded U.S. patents for his work in computer & data security and data analytics. He is the founder at Abbottics AI, a company focused on application of AI & robotics to Agricultural Technology (AgTech). He is also co-founder of The NFI Group where he is working with his cofounder on developing novel solutions for identity and messaging security.
