Kara Mick Smythwood received a bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology at Johns Hopkins University and a master’s degree in Information Technology from UNC Charlotte College of Computing and Informatics. His research interests include visual analytics, human computer interaction, and computational modeling of visual perception. His current work uses eye-tracking technology to examine how icon characteristics such as visual complexity, aesthetic appeal, and emotional valence affect how users search for icons.
